Origins, produced by Well.org, is being shown on Youtube for free until November 22 (I would assume they’re pulling it after this date).
It’s a film about…well, about our origins and how we have developed on a biological level since the beginning of humankind.
I watched it last night and found it fascinating. The basic theme is “we are what we eat,” and what we are eating these days is not conducive to either good health or longevity.
There’s a lot of blame placed on corporations for cutting corners, adding chemicals, and producing food stuffs that are not beneficial to our well-being.
Their tagline:
“Four years, 19 countries, and 24 experts in anthropology, medicine, ecology, and health have exposed the roots of our DNA and how to prevent the modern world from making you sick.”
And though it may sound like it’s all doom and gloom, there are some positives within the movie.
Probably the most fascinating aspects of the movie (at least for me) is that of childbirth and how we come into this world. Through natural childbirth (as opposed to caesarean section), we are given natural “vaccinations” from our mothers via the birth canal. From this moment on, our immune system is given a boost to go through life with greater resistance to illnesses. It is only later that we tear down this resistance with the food we take in.
We are what we eat. Unfortunately, that means we are moving towards being receptacles for chemicals. Chemicals that are not part of our true origins.
Enjoy the movie.

Speaking of kids, have you seen the one on fluoride? I moved away from fluoride about a year ago after having seen this.

Michael Thank you for this Link.. I looked on You Tube and the Movie is still up there, so hope to watch later on as I knit. LOL.. 🙂
Yes its horrid what we are putting into our foods and how many chemicals we ingest as every one is popping pharmaceutical pills .. It is a great worry as I try to educate my 4 yr old Granddaughter on eating veggies and show her how we grow our own food..
Recent Food scares in the UK over the Last year has highlighted how many things are getting into the Food Chain.. Not to mention the vaccines which are pumped into animals before they too are digested..
And the vaccines we pump now into Children.. I know my own 4 yr old had a flu Nasal vaccine spray… I was horrified but was helpless to do anything about it as it was not my decision to make.. But what are we doing to our children? ..
So I will be interested to watch this movie later today..
Thank you Michael..

I think more and more people are waking up to what is in our food supply and are making efforts to eat better quality foods. It’s going to take some time, but I believe we’ll make it through this “dark” period of profiting from food production back to focusing on quality. When we all start demanding better quality, there will be no incentive for companies to focus solely on production and quantity.
Enjoy the movie. It’s an eye opener on many levels.
