Origins, produced by Well.org, is being shown on Youtube for free until November 22 (I would assume they’re pulling it after this date).

Origins01It’s a film about…well, about our origins and how we have developed on a biological level since the beginning of humankind.

I watched it last night and found it fascinating. The basic theme is “we are what we eat,” and what we are eating these days is not conducive to either good health or longevity.

There’s a lot of blame placed on corporations for cutting corners, adding chemicals, and producing food stuffs that are not beneficial to our well-being.

Their tagline:
“Four years, 19 countries, and 24 experts in anthropology, medicine, ecology, and health have exposed the roots of our DNA and how to prevent the modern world from making you sick.”

And though it may sound like it’s all doom and gloom, there are some positives within the movie.

Origins02

Probably the most fascinating aspects of the movie (at least for me) is that of childbirth and how we come into this world. Through natural childbirth (as opposed to caesarean section), we are given natural “vaccinations” from our mothers via the birth canal. From this moment on, our immune system is given a boost to go through life with greater resistance to illnesses. It is only later that we tear down this resistance with the food we take in.

We are what we eat. Unfortunately, that means we are moving towards being receptacles for chemicals. Chemicals that are not part of our true origins.

Enjoy the movie.
